I am creating these digital photo paintings out of images that I have in my library that in one way or another appeal to me as good material for merging together. At the same time I am learning how to use the program. This is one of the ways I learn how to do things .... learning to do while I'm doing. Once I feel strong enough with Painter I will start to more intentionally design these pictures. If you have any comments please feel free.
I've had a copy of Corel Painter for awhile but last night I decided to open it up and play a bit. The photo/painting below is the result. I am intrigued by the possibilities presented by Corel Paint and photography. This is a pretty rudimentary rendition but other Photogs like Maggie Taylor have done some pretty interesting stuff. I look forward to doing some more work with this great tool.
UPDATE: This is the final version of this piece posted to my site on Thanksgiving Day 2009. Earlier versions have been deleted and destroyed.
This video happened as a result of putting together some footage I recorded while testing a HDSLR camera that I have since sold because it lacked the amount of control necessary to get the imagery and sound quality I wanted. But nonetheless a small portion of what I shot that day had such appealing content that I began to put something together from it.
For some time I have talked about making video the way I paint. This is my first attempt at accomplishing that and the experience of doing this was very enjoyable so hopefully I will continue. Those of you who know my painting. I think will see what I mean, and those of you who do not will have the pleasure (or anguish) of imagining what I mean.
Please watch the video and let me know what you think of this effort, the direction it's taking, does it work for you or whatever you'd like to say.
